Vibe: Clean, very well run and organized, hotel-ish, but with plenty of activities and still felt very social to me.
Really liked this hostel! It was huge (honestly all of the hostels in Italy were like hotels that had been transformed into hostels). They had a free welcome drink, and lots of social events (the two nights I was there was beer pong and karaoke I think). Two showers and a toilet to each individual bunk room which was really nice. Hostel was a 2 minute walk from a grocery store and also a 2 minute walk from the train station that takes you into Venice. Very convenient location to the train station (seriously right across the street). I like how this hostel had the organization and cleanliness of a hotel, but still had activities and the social side of a hostel.

Vibe: Chill, amazing views
Super cool hostel! Very affordable. One of the few hostels that had free breakfast (don’t expect a whole lot, but even some bread and coffee is nice when you are a broke traveler like myself). The rooms literally overlook the lake, and there is a patio that overlooks the lake where everyone eats the free breakfast. The picture is me sitting on the patio at breakfast. There is also a bar and restaurant, and some board games to play. Rooms are quite tight and not a whole lot of bathrooms, but the views and location of the hostel make up for it. it is about an hour bus ride from the train station. Walking distance of main Menaggio town and very close to the ferry port to take the ferry to the other surrounding towns

Vibe: Similar to Anda Venice - big and hotel like but still very social with a lot of activities going on
Solid hostel! Very big, when we first walked up we were like “is THAT our hostel?” It was huge and looked like a fancy building. Big lobby, bar, private ensuite bathrooms in each room. Lots of social events. Not to mention there was a literal club in the basement (that’s how big this hostel was). We went to a glow in the dark party in the basement (pictured), fun and nice because we didn’t have to worry about leaving the hostel, getting lost, etc. I will say it is a pretty decent walk into central area Florence. I don’t mind walks too much and it didn’t seem like a sketchy walk at any point but just good to know ahead that you won’t walk right outside and be right by the Duomo.

Vibes: Central, comfortable
Another Yellow Square. We liked the other one, and a lot of the other hostels around were not really much cheaper and had way worse reviews. Yellow Squares are good hostels, I would recommend them for sure. This one was also big, comfortable, safe, clean, and nice just like the other one. Did not have a club in the basement but still had similar social events and I think an outdoor bar (never went because we did so much during the days because Rome is HUGE and we walked everywhere so we were exhausted by the end of the day). I will mention that this one didn’t have ensuite bathrooms in each room like the one in Florence, but that isn’t too big of a deal. Good safe location. Not too far of a walk to the main points of interest (definitely not walking right out into the Trevi type of close, but considering how big and spread out Rome is, it really isn’t too bad).

Vibe: Uncomfortable, sketchy, weird, unclean, depressing, gross
There was quite literally no good aspect about this hostel. It was less than a 5 minute walk from the train station but it was a very sketchy walk and area, my cousin and I felt really uncomfortable walking even in the daylight. We both left separately from this hostel to head separate ways in our travels the next morning and we made sure each one texted when we made it to the train station because it was just really sketchy. The hostel itself was weird. Lockers were broken, my cousin couldn’t get to the top bunk other than flinging herself up there because the ladder was broken. One shower for the entire place. Didn’t seem clean, I put a layer of clothing over my pillowcase because I don’t think it had been cleaned. People were strange, there was like one outlet for 4 beds, just really bad experience. Really don’t recommend this place, even if you have to pay a little more please find a place where you will feel more comfortable and safe <3
**Upon recent attention to one of my Tiktoks, it has been brought to my attention that this was in a bad part of Naples. Locals have continuously mentioned Vomero region in the comments as a good place to stay, so please look there any travelers reading this!

Vibe: Central, relaxed, friendly, amazing views
One of my top 3 previously mentioned. Amazing place that is super central and right in the last town of Cinque Terre. Balcony with incredible views. Beds are squeaky I will say, and cleaning lady comes at like 8am which is pretty early, but those are minor and the hostel was really nice.

For sure, it was one of my top 3!
